Hot, hot, hot ... as hot as I can remember. Our abode for the week is Misty Moon - Cookie and TR's cabin with it's comfy leather sofas, bed & porch furniture. Always is my favorite cabin as it is on Rock Creek and looks out towards the Big Horns.
Got settled in yesterday - Philip met Michael; he and Charlotte are next to us. Steb and Jill are across the creek - sort of catty corner. MC and Steb are in Brookside.
Brookside - what a change! Rebuilt this year from the ground up. No more strange short door ways.
Kim and Ian Hamilton are at our table - from Menlo Park. Ian is Terry and Ed Hamilton's son. Lindsay Rodgers (George's daughter) & family arrives tomorrow.
Determined to eat "lightly" this week ... not doing so well. Started the morning off with eggs benedict, fish taco for lunch and prime rib for supper. Thanks A lot! Tomorrow will be better.
Appears some of last year's concerns - erratic kitchen, cabins not getting the daily spruce ... are resolved. Kitchen is still slow...but our hasher, Kendall is great.
We rode the Haw Trail - nice despite the heat. About the time the temp was almost unbearable; we'd go thru a grove of aspen or come up on a ridge and get an updraft. I'm riding Pine Tree (hooray) and Philip's on C4 (jury still out).
Lots of flowers still blooming - harebell, lupin, bee balm, sunflower, rose ... tho not so many butterflies. Last year we were riding thru drifts of butterflies.
Seems kind of strange to not have any of the kids here ...1st time in about 25 years.
We spent the afternoon "resting". I moved from porch or bed, back to porch. Don't have a really good book to read. So far, none of the ones recommended are appealing to me or I've read them. Started working on another patchwork bracelet for Louise's retirement.
No evening ride for us; instead sat on the dining room front porch, visiting with MC & Steb.
